Residents’ Association

Our Objectives

The Committee endeavours to act as the voice of the Village in environmental matters.  It is consulted by the Local Authority on Planning Applications and in the formulation of future planning policy. The Committee also runs social events for the benefit of the Village as a whole.

We are one of the most well-organised local groups and campaign effectively on issues of importance to residents.

The Association represents Residents’ views to outside bodies, such as Brent Council, local schools, Ward Councillors and MPs.

We are represented at the local area Consultative Forums, where matters effecting the immediate neighbourhood and beyond, are discussed.  Typical topics have been street amenities, parking restrictions and traffic control, as well as major planning developments.

Thanks to all the residents that attended our May 2018 Annual General Meeting where a Brent Council officer also kindly attended and updated residents on current topics.   Download Chair & Vice Chair statements (PDF)   Any other notes are available on request: contact@roegreenvillage.org.uk

Planning and Development

Roe Green Village is a Conservation Area, as defined by Article 4 Regulation in the Town and Country Planning Act with Local Planning Authority (LPA) controls to preserve its architectural character.

The Local Authority Planners  at  Brent Council do enforce these regulations strictly, so we would advise all residents to obtain a copy of the Roe Green Village Conservation Area Design Guide.

It provides further guidance regarding carrying out works in the conservation area and can be viewed on Brent Council's website: www.brent.gov.uk

If you have any questions regarding works that you propose to carry out to your property, you can contact the North Area Planning Team: email: planningnorth@brent.gov.uk

Address: The Planning Service, Brent House, 357 High Road, Wembley, HA9 6BZ

Do get permission from the Authority, before commencing any building work, or making significant changes in gardens, which reduce the amount of soft landscaping.

The Association is always willing to give informal advice to Residents who need to make a Planning Application..  We take a neutral stance over planning issues; while we support the Planning controls and recognise that they are for the good of the Village, we have also supported Villagers who wish to make a reasonable Planning Application. The Local Authority Planners are obliged by law to listen to views from residents, and also the Residents’ Association, before deciding Planning   Applications.  However, we have limited influence over their decisions, which must follow local and national planning guidelines.

A Quarterly NEWSLETTER is circulated to all households in the Village, giving notice of social events and a variety of other Village information.  It keeps you informed about possible future changes to the environment.  The newsletter is happy to publish contributions from Villagers on any topic, fact or fiction and offers free advertising.

Social Events

Much of the Residents’ Association work goes into organising a number of social events for the Village. The Jewel in our crown is Village Day – a summer fete which is always popular with residents and their families & friends.

Other popular events include quiz nights, carol singing at Christmas and day & weekend trips during the year. Past trips have included: Monet’s Gardens, Reims, France; Thames Cruise; Hayling Island ; Cotswolds, Brick Lane Music Hall and recently a trip to Thriplow Daffodil Festival.  Village events are run at cost and are open to residents and non-residents.
